What are GDRs and ADRs?

GDR stands for global depository receipt, which is a tradable financial security that represents shares in a foreign company and trades on American, Eurozone and Asian stock exchanges. ADR stands for American deposit receipt is also a tradable financial security that represents shares in a foreign stock, but it is issued by a U.S. bank and only trades on American stock exchanges.

What are equity securities?

Equity securities are financial instruments that represent ownership claims on a company’s net assets. They give the holder the right to a proportion of the company’s earnings.

What are exchange traded funds?

Exchange traded funds (ETF) can contain all types of securities, such as stocks, commodities and bonds, that trade on an exchange. ETF share prices fluctuate throughout the day as it is bought and sold.
